VODDER'S MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

_______________

Vodder's Lymphatic Drainage is a smooth and precise manual massage technique, the concept of which totally differs from that of classical massage.

It is effective in numerous affections and can be considered as a natural "alternative therapy'' since it enhances circulation and liquid exchanges in the body through the very physiological circulation mechanisms, without using any medicine nor any agressive means. Therefore, this drainage also accomplishes a real reeducation of the lymphatic system, which explains it's lasting results. It moreover favorably influences the general state of health since it reinforces immunity and enhances tissue regeneration.

The author of the method, Emil Vodder, a Danish citizen, doctor in philosophy and in biology as well as physiotherapist, invented it intuitively, towards 1930 and applied it himself with great success.

He presented it in 1936 in a magazine edited in Paris. However, it is only after 1953 that scientific evidences of the efficiency of the method were brought about by a group of scientists specialialized in lymphology (Kuhnke, Azdonk, Földi, Mislin, Collard, Casley-Smith, Vorländer). The indications were moreover systematically established at the Dr. Asdonk's Clinic, in Federal Germany, according to statistical results on more than 20,000 cases.

In short, Vodder's Manual Lymphatic Drainage is indicated for all kinds of internal and external oedemas. This includes, of course, return circulation deficiency, "swollen arm" after mastectomy and post-operative or post-traumatic oedemas, for instance, but also scapulo-humeral periarthritis, coxarthrosis, medicinal or alimentary toxicoses and chronic sinusitis, to mention only a few examples.

In many cases, it avoids common surgical operations, such as tonsilectomy, appendicectomy, mammal amputation (mastectomy), hysterectomy, cyst and adenoma removals. As a result of its immunization effect, it is a powerful factor in the prevention of infection and cancer.

The original Vodder's method is a global therapy, in which the deficient or diseased organism in treated as a whole as well as at the place of the symptoms; hence it's numerous indications and its particular efficiency.
